Turkmen President’s Visit to China
President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China Xiao Qinghua, the Turkmen government said.
The report quoted the diplomat that "his country is looking forward to President Berdimuhammadov's visit ".
"Turkmenistan intends to actively build the intergovernmental dialogue with China, now acting as a strategically important partner, whose cooperation not only serves the interests of both peoples, but also acts as an essential factor in strengthening peace and stability on a global scale," the report quotes Berdimuhammadov as saying.
The Turkmen leader said "upcoming high-level talks in Beijing will reflect new approach of the two brotherly countries to establishing a multi-aspect cooperation in long term, mutually beneficial basis that meets the dictates of the time."
The two sides exchanged views on a number of key areas of bilateral cooperation in trade, energy, transport and communications and humanitarian spheres.
The meeting voiced mutual belief that the Turkmen-Chinese relations have great future based on common interests and the common views on the trends of global development.
Obvious confirmation of it are the dozens of important joint projects, in the first place, "an ambitious project of the century - the longest in the world gas pipeline from Turkmenistan to China, construction of which marked a major breakthrough in inter-state dialogue."
